12th ANNUAL CRAWLING VALLEY ICE FISHING DERBY

The 12th Annual Crawling Valley Ice Fishing Derby was a week earlier this year and like the last part of February and the 1st part of March it was very cold in the mornings and there was a light breeze through the day keeping the ice fishers huddling up to their heaters in their shacks or in their vehicles watching the tip-ups in warmth. There were 184 adult fishermen & 20 junior. With the help of the Bassano Snowpunchers we had two measuring stations where we once again measured the fish instead of weighed. The winning fish was the biggest Pike that we have seen in the Derby in many years.

Once again we would like to thank our Sponsor of the Junior Event, Lassiter Brothers & Triple XXX Red Angus, as well as the 13 other prize sponsors. Without them we could not offer the draws that we have at the end of the event. We would also like to thank the Bassano Snowpunchers for manning the two measuring stations, it was great to have all your help.

Crawling Valley 2013 Fishing Derby

11th ANNUAL CRAWLING VALLEY ICE FISHING DERBY The 11th Annual Crawling Valley Ice Fishing Derby will probably be remembered more for the White out conditions that stormed into the area; however the organizers of the derby would still like to think of it as a success. The Derby was sold out with 220 adult fishermen & 30 junior. This year the fish were measured instead of weighed and the organizers were very impressed with the ease of this transition. The fish were also the biggest fish handled in the Derby in several years.

CRAWLING VALLEY ICE FISHING DERBY 2012

The 2012 Crawling Valley Ice Fishing Derby started with the Junior Fishers on the board with a 6lb 6oz pike early in the morning. Finally around mid-morning the Adults started to place. However the juniors had the largest Pike throughout the day. The winning Ling Cod came in just before noon on Saturday. There was some nice activity on the lines in the later afternoon, but the fish were small.

Finally on Sunday morning the Adults had some luck on their lines, by mid-day the leader board had changed & the winners were on the board. Shortly after 1:00 Sunday the winning Jr. Pike was weighed in.
